I help undergraduate students to have the best experience at university.

Study method &
skills to thrive at
UNI

Hi I am Tina!

I come from Italy (yes I know what you may be thinking, wow Italy so nice, ciao bella food etc) and I completely agree with you, that is maybe one of the things I have missed the most during my university undergraduate course at Oxford Brookes University.

I have left Italy when I was 19 to study international business. Even though the topic seemed very interesting I had no previous knowledge of it nor of the English educational system.

However, I must say I come from a very rigid school system where I used to study 9 subjects all very theoretical, yes I agree with you this should be illegal. In fact, this has been probably my biggest challenge to overcome. Changing my study method.

In the first few months at uni, I really struggled. I thought, what am I doing here, where do I start? I remember I was spending 3 hours reading 2 pages of an article or that I was re-writing the lecture notes every time to make them perfect. Yes, I thought the same as you are thinking now, I was not managing my time properly.

I realised I needed to change my method and my mindset.

My priority was to have an easy and organised study method which allowed me to have a LOT OF FREE TIME. Sounds like a dream, right?

Well, that dream came true. After a year I found my method which allowed me to have several casual hours jobs, volunteering, starting my own business, having fun with friends and family.

All seemed going very. During my second year, I suddenly had a mental breakdown. I know, we as students have many of them. But this one was different from the previous ones. This felt much deeper and related to my identity.

This time, I realized that even though my study method was working very well I needed to take care also of my mental wellbeing, aligning what I was doing with my values, interests and abilities. Moreover, I needed more strategy when planning my next goals and remembering what I CAN and CAN NOT control.

As students, I truly believe we go from I have everything sorted to what the hell is going on. That is absolutely part of the experience, but I asked myself couldn’t it be a bit more balanced?

Asking for support and living different experiences have helped me live my final year at best, and that was not an easy year…it was the Covid outbreak year. Thanks to my study method and life-strategies I managed to increase my marks reach a 75% average. I know what you might be thinking, not everyone wants that kind of mark, and it is completely fine. But I guess everyone would love to have some life-strategies and practical advice to make the uni life as easy and smooth as possible.

I am here to help you.

Maybe in your head, you might be thinking you are not worth that mark/grade. Maybe you have a self-limiting belief that makes you feel less than other people. Well, I am here to tell you that is not true.

“We are born as perfect human beings; we are NOT born stupid nor shy nor lacking confidence. All these characteristics come from the environment we grow up in and our perception of it. “

No, we can not blame our parents or the school system or society, we need to acknowledge what has not gone well, but then take our responsibility and steps towards improving ourselves.

So, you are worth it all. You are worth more than A+, you are worth an A+ with a peaceful and calm mind and with having fun during the journey. Because remember, as they say, these are the best years of our life and we are the only leading actor in them!

My Experience

Having worked as I university advisor for over 100 international students, I am aware of the challenges of uni life. For each of them, I have looked for an answer and a strategy to overcome it.

Life Coaching and its exercises and techniques really helped me become confident and motivated again. After doing the training myself and becoming a certified life coach I want now to give back and help students who are struggling at university.

Connect you with other students in similar situations and have fun.

The webinar will be very interactive with the chance to meet other likeminded people. It will be very practical and fun. When you will book your place, you will have the chance to send me also the questions and topic that interest you particularly.

I will try my best to cover them during the webinar and at the end, there will be a chance to have a Q&A.
